First Lady Jill Biden urged Americans to get the bivalent COVID-19 now saying that the most important thing they can do to prepare for their holidays is to get their updated COVID vaccine. She especially aimed her message to older Americans in a virtual town hall event at the White House meant to reach Americans ages 50 and older.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said during a recent press briefing that much of the increase is driven by older people and those with existing health problems. The numbers include everyone testing positive, no matter why they are admitted.
