Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio will soon be heading for the Group of Seven summit meeting in Italy. Kishida will depart from Tokyo on Wednesday afternoon. The summit opens on Thursday in Puglia, southern Italy. The G7 leaders are expected to discuss regional issues, including the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific.

Economic security, artificial intelligence, climate change and other topics are also likely on the agenda. Kishida hopes to lead the talks and convey Japan's actions and positions, following the achievements of the G7 summit in Hiroshima last year.
