Japanese Princess Kako’s official visit to Brazil

Japanese Princess Kako, the second daughter of Japanese Crown Prince and Princess Akishino, is on an official visit to Brazil. She has been welcomed by people of Japanese ancestry in an inland city in southern Brazil. The princess visited a garden maintained by a group of Japanese descendants.

The princess planted a tree in the garden to commemorate the 130th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Japan and Brazil. The princess expressed her deep respect for the people from Japan and their descendants, for their tireless efforts despite the many difficulties they faced, and for the contribution they have made to Brazilian society.
