Japan-US officials meet for third round of tariff negotiation

Japan’s top tariff negotiator, Economic Revitalization Minister Akazawa Ryosei, has met with US officials for a third round of talks about trade.

The two sides agreed to continue close consultations at a high level, and they are eyeing possible discussions between their leaders at next month’s G7 summit in Canada. The minister said, “the Japanese and US sides agreed to hold close ministerial consultations with an eye toward talks between their leaders on the sidelines of the G7 summit in June.
