Japan and South Korea's foreign ministers reaffirmed the importance of their bilateral relationship during a meeting in Seoul on Monday. Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi met with South Korean counterpart Cho Tae-yolk, where they discussed strengthening ties and promoting exchanges between young people as both countries mark 60 years since normalizing diplomatic relations.

The ministers also agreed on the need for continued trilateral cooperation with the United States on regional and economic security matters and expressed a shared commitment to organizing a foreign ministers' meeting with China chaired by Japan in the near future.
