Japan semiconductor marker to open

Japanese semiconductor maker Rapidus is set to open chip post-processing Research and Development Center in Chitose City, the northern prefecture of Hokkaido. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new center was held on Thursday.

The company is aiming at domestic production of cutting-edge semiconductors and plans to begin post-processing research and development in the city in April 2026. The company is currently in negotiations with about 40 companies that are potential customers.
