Japan to hold general election on Oct 27

The new president of Japan’s main ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP),Ishiba Shigeru, who is set to become Japan’s next prime minister said he will call a general election to be held 27thOctober.

Official campaigning for the general election will begin on 15thOctober.He is deciding the lineup of his incoming administration. The LDP will officially announce the new party executives on Monday.Ishiba will form his new cabinet after being elected as Japan’s 102nd Prime Minister in both Chambers of the Diet on Tuesday.Ishiba is making final arrangements to dissolve the Lower House on 9th October.
