Death toll rises to 9 in Japan’s Ishikawa following heavy rain. Emergency officials said the death toll from record rainfall in Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture has risen to nine.

Torrential rain hit the Noto region in the prefecture over the weekend. On Wednesday morning, rescuers in the city of Wajima found the body of another person.

They say the deceased appeared to be a woman. Prefectural officials say two people are missing, and six people are unaccounted for. Meanwhile, 46 communities remain isolated in Wajima and Suzu cities and Noto Town due to flooding and landslides.
