Japan FM speaks at opening session of G7 talks

Foreign ministers of the Group of Seven gathered in Japan on Monday to discuss the world's most intractable crises. Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said the ministers would also discuss nuclear disarmament.

But even before the talks began in the hot spring resort of Karuizawa, outside events threatened to overshadow the diplomacy. Security worries also surfaced after someone threw an explosive device at the Japanese prime minister over the weekend.
