Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy.

They reaffirmed the strength of Canada-Japan relations and their commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

The leaders emphasized the importance of human rights, a rules-based international order, and regional security. They also committed to expanding bilateral trade, investment ties, and energy cooperation. Trudeau welcomed Japanese investments in Canadian critical minerals and the electric vehicle sector.
