Japan calls for multilateral decarbonization efforts at COP30. COP30 is being held in the Brazilian city of Belem. Japan’s Environment Minister Ishihara Hirotaka said his nation hopes to form a consensus with many countries and will work to further advance initiatives toward decarbonization.

In his Tuesday statement, Ishihara marked the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement and reiterated the importance of advancing global decarbonization efforts based on multilateralism. Ishihara told reporters that Japan will use various opportunities to keep reaching out to the US to take part in efforts to address climate change.
