Japan-born giant panda Xiang Xiang celebrates birthday in China

Japan-born giant panda, Xiang Xiang celebrated her seventh birthday on Wednesday, months after returning from Tokyo's Ueno zoo, where she was born in 2017. China loans the black-and-white furballs to overseas zoos as part of Beijing's "panda diplomacy" to further foreign policy aims, with offspring returned to China within a few years of their births to join breeding programmes.
