Japan, Australia Boost US Cooperation for Free Indo-Pacific

Japan and Australia have committed to enhancing cooperation with the United States and other like-minded countries to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific. In discussions in Washington, Japan’s Foreign Minister Iwaya and Australia’s Foreign Minister Wong highlighted the importance of addressing regional challenges.

They agreed to strengthen collaboration through initiatives like the Quad framework, focusing on security, economic cooperation, cyberspace and people-to-people exchanges. They also planned further engagement with the US, including meetings with key officials.
