An annual festival honoring the deity for prosperous business is being held in Hiroshima, western Japan. The festival is held at the city’s Ebisu Shrine and its vicinity. It’s said to date back more than 400 years. Visitors lined up at stands near the shrine to buy bamboo rakes called “komazarae,” which are considered good luck charms.
The rakes are adorned with symbols of luck, such as the god Ebisu and a magic mallet. They range in price from around 30 dollars to more than 600 dollars.
