Japan’s Princess inspects a Japanese class

Japan’s Princess Aiko, daughter of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, continued with her official visit to Laos on Wednesday. She visited a school in the capital, Vientiane, where children learn Japan’s language and culture. Japanese teachers have been dispatched to the school for the past 10 years.

The Princess asked students in a language class questions such as, “What sparked your interest in Japan?” and “How do you study outside of class?” In a lesson on Japanese culture, children played the traditional game “Fukuwarai.” Blindfolded players try to place features on a paper face in the correct positions.
