'Italy's Versailles': The Royal Palace of Caserta receives its 3rd Michelin Green Guide star

A long-neglected architectural jewel near Naples, the Royal Palace of Caserta, nicknamed "the Italian Versailles", is being returned to its former glory through a vast restoration, partly financed by the EU's recovery fund.

From restoration of its facades to the repairing of the alleys, gates and gardens, the palace has landed its 3rd star in the Michelin Green Guides. 1,200 rooms, a collection of contemporary art mixing with the 18th century salons but also many surprises, such as one of the first bidets in the world, or the first manual lift.
