Italy and Sweden are making their final preparations to bid for hosting the 2026 Winter Olympics in Lausanne before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announces the winner Monday at its 134th session. The IOC said the 2026 Winter Olympics will be held either in Sweden's Stockholm or Italy's Milan.

Delegations from the two countries arrived in Lausanne to meet President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach on Sunday. Italy hosted Winter Olympics twice, in Cortina in 1956 before Turin in 2006. The county wants to hold another one. IOC members will vote between the two candidates at the 134th IOC Session, and Swedish and Italian IOC members will not be allowed to vote.
