Italian vets save animals from deadly Emilia-Romagna floods

In Russi, near Ravenna, a pair of Italian vets saving animals from the floods, transporting horses, donkeys to a privately owned safe and dry location away from the flooded river.

"Horses shouldn’t be kept in their boxes during the flood, or inside small cabins" one of the veterinarians advises, "because they’re stuck in there and they can’t get out." With heavy rains inundating much of Italy's northern Emilia Romagna region, more than 5,000 farms are under water, with drowned animals and tens of thousands of hectares of vineyards, fruit trees, vegetables and grain flooded.
