Emergency workers and locals in Italy began cleaning up the debris left after flooding on Friday. Mud and debris was strewn across streets and properties were left severely damaged after the floodwaters receded.
"We found ourselves submerged by one and a half meters in around 10 minutes, without anyone warning us about the coming danger and this is the situation," said one local in Pianello di Ostra.
Floodwaters triggered by heavy rainfall swept through several towns in a hilly region of central Italy, leaving 10 people dead and at least four missing, authorities said.
Dozens of survivors scrambled onto rooftops or up trees to await rescue. The fire department tweeted that dozens of people who were trapped in cars or had clambered up to rooftops or climbed trees to escape rising floodwaters had been brought to safety.
