Israel approves first phase of peace plan

The Israeli prime minister's office has announced that the Cabinet has formally approved the first phase of a peace plan with Hamas.

The agreement includes the release of all hostages. The plan was put forth by US President Donald Trump. The first phase includes a ceasefire and the release of all 48 Israeli hostages, as well as the partial withdrawal of troops from Gaza. A government spokesperson previously said the break in the fighting will take effect within 24 hours. And she said all hostages, living and dead, will be returned within 72 hours of the ceasefire beginning.
