Isparta Museum, the Turkiye’s first and the world’s fifth scent-focused museum

The 275-year-old Aya Baniy Church in Isparta has been restored and transformed into the “Misparta Scent Civilization” Museum, marking the Turkiye’s first and the world’s fifth scent-focused museum. One of the most striking artifacts on display is a 4,500-year-old perfume formula, considered the oldest known perfume recipe in the world.

Containing 16 ingredients, including rose, this ancient formula has been recreated through experimental archaeology. In the museum’s workshop area, visitors are offered an engaging journey from the ancient history of scent to the art of modern perfume making.
