Irrigation Facilities: Progress of renovation works inspected

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is carrying out the repair works on the damaged facilities during the floods, occured in September.

On Thursday, Union Minister U Min Naung inspected the Sittaung River Water Pumping System in Sharsepho Village of Zeyathiri Township, along with the renovation of feeder canal and thriving plantation of winter crops. Officials reported on the plan for supply of irrigation water for summer crops plantation.

They then arrived at Kintha Retaining Wall in Tatkone Township and oversaw the clearing of silt, pre-activities for renovation of damaged facility, chosen site for construction of temporary retaining wall, divertion canal and emergency axuliarly spillway.

At present, 15% of the renovation works have completed, and efforts are being made to complete the tasks in the designated timeframe. The Union Minister later visited Ponamar Village and inspected the thriving monsoon paddy plantations, using the solar-powered pumping system.
