Irrigation & Agriculture: MoALI Union Minister makes inspections in Bago

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung inspected the Irrigation Development Training Division in Bago Township and heard reports on work implementation of the division with the support of JICA, training, operations of soil testing laboratory and water quality testing laboratory, construction equipment quality testing, construction worksite quality maintenance and Hydraulic laboratory operation.

Then, the Union Minister met with the staff and trainees of the Department of Irrigation and Water Utilization Management and encouraged them to become the reliable and excellent civil servants who can contribute the development of the nation and provided foodstuff.

Then, the Union Minister and officials inspected the domatories of the trainees and coordinated necessities. It’s learnt that a total of 495 trainings were conducted till to date with 18,550 trainees at the Irrigation Development Training Division (Bago).

And, at the Central Agricultural Research and Training Center (CARTC) in Hlegu Township of Yangon Region,  the Union Minister heard reports on brief history of the center and trainings for civil servants and farmers. 

Then, the Union Minister attended the completion ceremony of Management, Finance and Accounting training course and presented completion certificates to the trainees and provided foodstuffs. It’s reported that a total of 1,212 trainings were conducted with 52,085 trainees till to date at the CARTC.

After the ceremony, the Union Minister inspected the laboratories at the CARTC and provided necessary instructions. Likewise, the Union Minister inspected the production and distribution of qualified vegetable seeds, assistance to farmers and  implementation of GAP and organic farming system and heard reports submitted by officials at the Vegetable and Fruit Research and Development Center (VFRDC).

Upon the reports, the Union Minister stressed production of safe and nutritious agri-products to ensure the local food sufficiency, and production of quality products to penetrate international market. Then, the Union Minister oversaw the research plantations.
