Iraq cracks down on oil smuggling in disputed waterway

Iraq's state company for ports and naval forces carry out a joint operation in Iraqi territorial waters and in the Khor Abdallah channel to ensure navigational safety and to crack down on oil smugglers. The move comes amid rising tensions over control of the waterway and recent US sanctions targeting alleged Iranian oil smuggling networks involving Iraq.
