Meanwhile, Iran and the United States were scheduled to hold peace talks in Pakistan on Saturday with the foes appearing to be far apart on key demands and expressing mutual mistrust.

While the delegation led by US Vice President JD Vance was on his way to Pakistan, the Iranian delegation headed by parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf had already arrived first in Islamabad. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned on Friday that the progress of ceasefire talks in his country would be hard work.

Sharif said in his televised speech that the stage of achieving a lasting ceasefire and resolving complicated issues through negotiations were still hard works.
