Iran says official to meet UN nuclear chief on Monday

Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed that the recent meeting with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna was part of ongoing engagement between Iran and the agency. 

The discussions followed talks involving Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and his Russian and Chinese counterparts in Beijing. 

Baqaei emphasized that the meeting was a continuation of existing interactions and reiterated Iran’s stance that political positions, particularly from the IAEA Director General, should not negatively affect cooperation. 

He called for the Director General to act within his professional duties and avoid being influenced by specific members of the IAEA Board of Governors.
