Investigators inspect scene of fatal train crash in Spain

Investigators from Spain’s Civil Guard arrived on Monday to inspect the site of a train crash that killed at least 39 and seriously injured 24. A high-speed train travelling from Malaga to Atocha derailed in Adamuz , at 7:45 p.m local time on Sunday.

The collision occurred on a straight stretch of track that had been renovated in May 2025 and was in good condition. According to local media, the Transport Minister had described the incident as “tremendously strange”.
