International Youth Day: International Youth Day activities in Taunggyi

To mark International Youth Day 2025, the Shan State Youth Affairs Committee launched inter-university men’s football and inter-basic education school volleyball tournaments (men’s and women’s) at the Shan State Sports Ground in Taunggyi.

At the opening ceremony, Chief Minister U Aung Aung highlighted the importance of youth participation in national development and encouraged students to take inspiration from the events. Following the ceremony, sports equipment and cash awards were presented to participating teams and school bands.

Officials also observed ongoing matches, including a football game between Computer University and Taunggyi University, and a volleyball match between Region 1 and Region 4 schools. The football tournament is scheduled to be held from Aug 1 to 9, featuring 5 university teams, while the volleyball tournament includes 12 boys' and 12 girls' school teams, and it will run until August 6.

The Chief Minister and party later visited essay and article competitions held under the themes “A Youth’s Responsibility in Environmental Conservation” and “Digital Era Skills & Youth Life Choices,” with 59 students in the essay contest and 55 in the article competition.
