International Literacy Day : Ministry of Education holds celebration for 2023

Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyun Pe attended and delivered the speech at the ceremony of International Literacy Day. As the Ministry of Education are working to teach through formal education as well as non-formal education so that everyone can participate in education.

According to the interim population and census of the country in 2019, it was also found that there are about 41 million illiterate youth and elderly people aged 15 and above in the country. The Prime Minister said that to give priority to the higher education of the ethnic people and rural people in the era of education.

This year's International Literacy Day theme is "Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies”. Literacy not only for the benefit of the individuals, but also social, economy, politics, cultural and environmental benefits of the national are provided in the UNESCO's concept note statement. 

He concluded by urging the Ministry of Education and related ministries, the region and state government organizations to work together to make everyone educated with the participation of donors.
