International Day of Older Persons: 2022 Theme: Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World

Yangon Region Government held the International Day of Older Persons 2022 ceremony which will fall on the 1st of October.

During the ceremony at the regional government office in Yangon, Chief Minister U Soe Thein said that human life expectancy has increased due to the advancement of modern health care technology and the increase in health knowledge.

Young people ought to find out and use the experience, knowledge, courage and strength of the older persons in line with the theme of the International Day of Older Persons 2022 which is “Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World”.

The Chief Minister also urged the younger generation to help older adults feel a greater sense of fulfillment. In this ceremony, over 120 million Kyats were provided to 12 homes for the aged and 45 older persons.

In Yangon Region, cash assistance was provided to over 26,000 older persons in April, May and June this year. Plans are underway to also provide for 27,000 older persons in July, August and September.
