








With the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and beyond,” an event to commemorate the International Youth Day 2025 and honor the winners of youth skills competitions was held at the indoor stadium of the Myitkyina People’s Sports Ground in Kachin State on August 12.
The ceremony began with Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, Chief Justice of the State High Court Daw Aye Aye Maw, and State Social Affairs Minister U Moe Min Thein cutting the ribbon to open the event in front of the indoor stadium.
Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan then gave a speech. The State Social Affairs Minister read a message from the UN Secretary-General for International Youth Day 2025, and attendees watched a video clip documenting youth development activities.
The Chief Minister and his wife, along with other officials, presented cash prizes and certificates of honor to the winners of the youth development competitions, which had been held for three days at the Community-Based Center (Myitkyina). They also presented certificates of appreciation to the judges and authors who participated in the literary talks.
The Chief Minister, his wife, and officials then toured the book and magazine exhibitions and the displays of educational achievements by students from various basic education schools.
In the evening on the same day, the Chief Minister, accompanied by state ministers and departmental officials, visited and spoke words of encouragement to families who had temporarily relocated from the Hpakant area due to security concerns. The families were staying on the grounds of the Baptist church in the Sitapu (Sut Ngai Taung) ward.
The Chief Minister and the State Social Affairs Minister provided 72 bags of rice, 72 viss of oil, and 1,440 eggs for the 72 households. They also inquired about the families' needs and took steps to fulfill them.
