





Honoring the abilities and vital role of youth, International Youth Day ceremony 2023 was held at Wunna Theikdi stadium (B) in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday with the attendance by Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan and other responsible officials.
In his opening remarks, the Union Minister said that 18% out of the 8 billion world population are young people, and among 654 million people in the ASEAN region, 34% are youths aged between 15 to 35. These young generations are valuable human resources for the nation and they play pivotal role in the implementation of future development progress.
Director General, Department of Youth Affairs, Nay Win said "The future of the nation depends on the ability, morals, capability and responsibility of today’s youth and there is a need for systematic nurturing of youths for multi-faceted development of them and the emergence of good citizens. Our department is working to implement the systematic measures for strengthening physical health, morals, discipline, ethics and genuine union spirit of youths."
With the theme for the International Youth Day 2023 “Green Skills for Youths: Towards a Sustainable World”, all need to strive for a better and long-term sustainability of the world with youth skills and the participation of all generations.
Chairman of the Myanmar Youth Affairs Central Committee, Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Zin Min Htet read out a message for international youth sent by the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
10th ASEAN QUIZ (Regional Level) Winner, Hnin Pwint Aung said "I came here to receive the prize for the 10th ASEAN QUIZ (Regional Level). It’s such a great pleasure and privilege to be invited to participate in this kind of ceremony, honoring the skillful youths. Such a recognition like this led me to try harder in the future."
Marking the International Youth Day, a video clip featuring the youth comprehensive development activities was screened. Cash prizes and certificates of honour were presented to outstanding youths and, the Myanmar Youth Development Association donated 20 million Kyats to the Myanmar Youth Affairs Central Committee.
