




The International Day of Older Persons which fell on October 1st was celebrated at the City Hall of the Myitkhina Township in Kachin State in the morning on October 2nd and obeisance was paid to the older persons over 100 years of age.
At the celebration, the Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan urged not only to pay respect but also provide the security of the older persons and create the opportunity to contribute their ability in state building process.
Next, the Chief Minister and wife, state chief justice, state ministers and their wives, state advocate general, state level departmental officials and the philanthropic associations donated 100,000 Kyats and 50,000 Kyats worth offertories to each of 50 elder persons over a hundred years old and one of elder persons expressed words of thanks.
The Kachin State Government donated 195 older persons across the state including 50 persons who could attend the celebration and the 145 older persons who cannot attend the event. Among them, one female elder person with the age of 121 years from Tanaing Township, one with 112 years old from Myitkyina Township and one male older person with the age of 110 years from Moe Hnyin Township were provided each with 200,000 Kyats of cash donation, it’s reported.
