







The Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi together with Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung held a meeting with the district and township level departmental officials regarding with the Transboundary Haze Pollution control and Wild Fire Protection and Prevention at the meeting hall of the Mong Yaung District General Administration Department in Shan State (East) in the morning on 11th March.
Speaking at the meeting, the Union Minister said that wild fire resulted in the losses of forest and biodiversity, soil qualiy degradation due to the drying up of water and environmental damage and the air pollution due to the haze can harm the health of the people. It’s important to collaborate among the departments and local people to prevent wild fire, recycling of straw stubble and agricultural wastes as natural fertilizer instead of burning them, substitution of slash and burn agriculture with other agricultural methods and prevention from reckless burning.
Next, the Director General of the Department of Environmental Conservation clarified the work plans to control the transboundary haze pollution and wild fire.
Then, the Chief Minister instructed the district and township fire prevention and controling committees to implement the works in momentum.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister and Chief Minister inspected mining worksites in Mong Yu Township of Mong Yaung district and gave necessary instructions regarding with the clarifications on the requiremnts by the responsible officials.
Afterward, the Union Minister also inspected the 15 acres ecosystem filling plantation in Mong Yu Forest Reserve and 5 acres Teak seed production plantation in In Mong Phyat Township and gave necessary instructions.
