Inspection Trip: Inspection of laboratory and export processes

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi made inspections in Yangon. First, the Deputy Minister inspected antibiotic residue and virus testing laboratory in Thaketa Township.

There, he stressed that market trust must be built by guaranteeing the quality of the product, and laboratories play an important role. He called on concerned officials to develop human resource and to make the laboratories in line with the modern system.

It’s learnt that this laboratory carries out the activities to ensure that there are no infectious diseases and chemical residues in the livestock products exported abroad in accordance with the National Residue Monitoring Plan-NRMP for Myanmar livestock and marine products.

Also, in the Thaketa Industrial Zone, the Deputy Minister inspected stages of fish packaging and freezing and processes for export and called for strict compliance with published rules and regulations, meeting the relevant country's standards and improving exports.

At the Myanmar Fisheries Federation in Insein Township, the Deputy Minister presided over a meeting to ensure that fishing activities are in line with the existing law, rules and regulations, to develop shrimp farming and production using modern technology, to set fishing season and to establish preservation zones in some areas.

In this meeting, he also called for collaboration of all stakeholders in the study of natural fish breeding using modern techniques.
