Inspection tour: Water resource of Ayeyawady river & river route condition

Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han together with officials inspected water resource of Ayeyawady river and condition of river route, implementations of Solar+Gas Engine Hybrid Power Plant that can generate 100-megawatt solar power near Magway on 23rd May and water resource of Ayeyawady river near Chauk, river flowing and finding bedrock on 24th May.

During the inspections of water resources near Min Hla and Chauk, the Director General of the Department of Hydropower Implementation and an official of the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvementof RiverSystem reported on the facts of Ayeyawady basin, waterway of Ayeyawady river near Min Hla and Chauk, the difference of water level and water depth condition, current speed and river flowing rate.

The Union Minister and party then looked into flowing of Ayeyawady River near Min Hla and Chauk by Z-craft, silting in the water route and sedimentation, condition of waterway and geological condition along the bank.

On arrival at the project site of Solar+Gas Engine Hybrid Power Plant that can generate 100-megawatt near Magway, in reports of officials, the Union Minister called for arriving 4 more generators within the target time in addition to the 9 ones to generate electricity, plan to generate electricity with full capacity in Februray 2024, to carry out the tasks with added momentum, to report immediately if there are difficulties and also said that the Ministry will provide necessary assistance.

After that, the Union Minister and party viewed around earth leveling to install solar panels in the project site, engine foundation, the arrival of natural gas power engines and gave necessary instructions. The Solar+Gas Engine Hybrid Power Plant is being undertaken on 598-acre of land near Thapyay San village in Magway Township.

The machine installed capacity is 122-megawatt solar and two 126-megawatt gas engines. Upon completion of the project, the electricity to be generated will be distributed to the National Grid through 132-KV Magway main-sub power station and now 30 percent of the whole project has completed, it is learnt.
