Inspection Tour: Visiting the Cement Factory and Paper Mill

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than visited Max Myanmar Cement Factory in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on 20th April.

During the visit, the Union Minister oversaw the cement production process, control room and quality assurance department. Speaking on the occasion the Union Minister highlighted the crucial role of cement factory in reconstruction and rehabilitation process during post-disaster period.

At present, the government is providing necessary assistances for the reoperation of cement factories, steel factories, roofing factory, plywood and brick manufacturing at full capacity to accelerate the rehabilitation measures. 

The Union Minister also encouraged to conduct research on quality of the products and swift distribution to the earthquake hit areas. Due to devastating earthquake on 28th March, Max Myanmar cement factory was damaged in some areas. Despite the damages, some factions of the factory started to reoperate on 5th April and the whole factory have started its regular operation since 15th April.

From 3rd to 20th April, a total of 10,150 tons of cement were distributed to the purchasers. At Yeni Paper Mill in Bago Region, the Union Minister inspected the renovation process of the damaged buildings.

During the meeting with the staff, the Union Minister expressed his appreciations to all the individuals participating in making requisite arrangements for the accommodation of the earthquake affected staff from Nay Pyi Taw. He also stressed on swift accommodation of the staff emphasizing the necessary installation of household utilities and provided cash assistance.
