Inspection Tour: Union Minister for Construction inspects roads, bridge

Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay made inspections in Magway, Bago and Yangon regions. First, the Union Minister inspected the Magway-Aunglan road section maintenance work on the Yangon-Pyay-Magway-Mandalay Road.

He continued his inspection trip to the Ayeyawaddy Bridge (Thayet-Aunglan) construction site on the Aunglan side, inspected approaching bridge and pillars construction and gave necessary instructions.

There, the Union Minister also heard report on construction process and stressed the importance of the Ayeyawaddy Bridge (Thayet-Aunglan) for transportation, quality construction and timely completion.

The Ayeyawaddy Bridge (Thayet-Aunglan) is designed to be 2,272.5 meters long with 8.5 meters wide lanes for vehicles and 1 meter wide pedestrian lanes on each side. The construction process in now 52 % completed.

Also, the Union Minister inspected the Yangon-Pyay-Magway-Mandalay Road maintenance, road safety work between the mile post No. 157/3 and 157/5 and gave instructions.

The Union Minister also met with concerned officials at the Thayawaddy District Office of Department of Road, explained the Ministry’s efforts for transportation and infrastructure development in the country and called for efforts for quality construction and disaster preventive measures. There, he also heard reports on tasks and financial and staff matters and coordinated.
