Inspection Tour: Recovery efforts for communication systems

Severe flooding, triggered by heavy rainfall from Typhoon Yagi, has recently caused significant disruptions in Nay Pyi Taw.

On Saturday, Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Lu Mon, together with departmental officials conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing recovery efforts for communication systems in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.

In the morning, the Deputy Minister and party inspected the damaged telephone poles and cables of the Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) along Pyinmana Bypass and Sugar Mill Road and the flood conditions of the mobile units near the sugar mill and at the BawGaThiri Highway Bus Station.

During the inspection, the Deputy Minister stressed the importance of timely and systematic repairs to the cables, proper cleaning, thorough inspections, reinstallation of equipment and ensuring the grounding system is effective.

Upon arrival at NaWin Creek Bridge, he assessed the temporary repairs on broken fiber cables and instructed for the restoration of transmission to normalcy after the bridge repair.

Next, the Deputy Minister and party oversaw the fiber cable connections from Kintha Road to the Tatkone-Pinlaung road and heard update reports on the completion status of the main fiber cable repairs and further work plans. They then proceeded to the bridge at ThaikChaung intersection in Zeyathiri Township to inspect the conditions of the replacement of transmission cables and instructed for a neat and secure installation.
