





Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, along with members of the state government and departmental officials, visited Sittwe Township in the morning on December 5 and made an inspection of market activities at the main municipal market and a review of the arrival of consumer goods at the multipurpose port in Sittwe.
The Chief Minister and party, first, visited the Sittwe Myoma Market, where they toured the area, interacting warmly with vendors and customers. They observed the sale of local vegetables, food items, and seafood, as well as the arrangements made to ensure that vendors could operate peacefully and securely.
Following this, they proceeded to the rice market in Ohtan Ward, where they met with rice merchants to discuss the status of rice sales and the arrival of the rice in the market.
Later, the Chief Minister and party visited the Sittwe Multipurpose Port to inspect the arrival of consumer goods transported to Rakhine State by ships and vessels under the supervision of the National Disaster Management Committee and coordinated by the Rakhine State Government and the Yangon Region Government.
During the inspection, they observed the unloading of rice, fuel, consumer goods, and medicines delivered by the Swan Theiddhi vessel. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for systematic loading and unloading, prompt distribution and sale of goods in the market, and measures to prevent any loss or damage to the goods. He also stressed the importance of ensuring safety during operations and collaborated with officials to address any necessary adjustments.
The Swan Theiddhi vessel reportedly transported a total of 172.348 tons of rice, fuel, consumer goods, and medicines to Sittwe.
