Inspection tour: MoNREC UM inspected thriving forests in Ayeyawady Region

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi along with Ayeyarwaddy Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win oversaw the thriving of commercial iron wood plantations in ThaLatKhwar forest reserve in Pathein Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region on Monday.

During the inspection tour, the Union Minister stressed that forest plantation establishment is being carried out as a national responsibility to restore the forests and to increase forest cover in Myanmar. He highlighted the importance of nurturing pedigree seeds of trees suitable to the region, timely plantation and preservation of cultivated plants. He then gave instructions to speed up the expansion of the forest reserve, conservation of mangroves forests, protecting ecosystems and biodiversity, establishment of rural firewood plantations and preventing illegal logging, in addition to the establishment of forest plantations.

Then, the Union Minister and party inspected the thriving of commercial iron wood, hardwood and Manjansha plantations and coordinated the requirements.

In the afternoon on the same day, the Union Minister and party proceeded to SinMa forest reserve in NgaPuTaw Township and inspected round Manjansha plantation. Then, the Union Minister coordinated the needs upon the reports on tree plantation presented by relevant officials and viewed around the thriving of commercial iron wood plantation.

And, the Union Minister and party oversaw the mixed crop plantation of iron wood, coffee and silver oak (KharTawHme) at Mezali forest reserve and extraction of coffee seeds and fulfilled the needs.
