Inspection tour: MoI UM held meeting with private expert group

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than visited No. 2 Steel Factory (Pangpet) in Taunggyi, Shan State on Sunday evening and met with an independent expert group in the meeting hall.

They then discussed the matters related to the accuracy in the use of funds, the technical information of the factory, systematic verification of the requirements and assistance for the works to be carried out in No. 1 Steel Mill (Myingyan) and No. 2 Steel Mill (Pangpet).

On Monday, the Union Minister attended a meeting with coffee producers and farmers in the Pa-O Self -Administered Zone together with Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Zaw Aye, Shan State Economic Minister U Khun Thein Maung, Chairman of the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Administration Body U Khun Ye Htwe and other concerned officials.

First, the Union Minister said that this meeting is being held to encourage MSME businesses, promote high quality production, boost domestic production for local sufficiency and to penetrate the international market along the value chain as well as to support the needs of entrepreneurs.

Also, the government is encouraging the MSME private entrepreneurs for better manufacturing processes, import substitution and production of guaranteed quality products for local consumers. The Union Minister urged local entrepreneurs to continuously learn and develop advanced technologies so that their locally produced products can penetrate not only domestic but also foreign markets and to obtain market opportunities by exhibiting their own products at domestic and foreign trade fairs.

As the private production sector plays a pivotal role in Myanmar's economy, the government is fulfilling the needs for the long-term development of domestic production and MSME businesses, he added. 

He urged all coffee growers to strive enable to produce high-quality and value-added products and to report the difficulties encountered. Then, Shan State Chief Minister said that Shan State Government is actively working for the development of MSMEs and boosting coffee exports as well as the loans are being disbursed for the expansion of coffee cultivation in Hopong and Ywangan townships. 

The State Government will provide further support for the development of coffee growers in Pa-O Self-Administered Zone. This is followed by the respective reports of Coffee Neo, Naungkhan,Green Gold andIndigo Mountain Coffee Companies and the Chief Minister replied the queries in response to the reports.

After that, the Union Minister gave a closing speech, warmly greeted the coffee entrepreneurs and coffee growers and inspected work operations of the Coffee Neo factory. Next, the Union Minister proceeded to the Shan State Directorate of Industrial supervision and Inspection in Taunggyi City, Shan State, and inspected the working conditions.

He urged all continuously learn to improve self-performances and to work hard to fully serve the public with their own skills.
