Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun, accompanied by relevant departmental officials, conducted an inspection of the YeYwar Hydropower Plant in Kyaukseon November 9th.
During the visit, he received reports on the plant’s annual power generation, maintenance of power generators and the 230 kV Switchyard, power distribution via the national grid and ongoing dam monitoring and inspection activities.
In response to the reports, Union Minister called for full electricity generation to meet public demand, regular maintenance and early water storage for summer. He also stressed adherence to civil service laws and teamwork among staff.
The Union Minister also met with staff, fulfilled their needs and provided cash assistance and food during his visit. Following the meeting, Union Minister and party toured the plant’s operations and inspected dam water storage, the dam structure and its spillway strength while fulfilling the needs.
The Union Minister and party proceeded to the 500 KV KanKaung substation project in Meikhtila Township where they oversaw the installation of transformers, a shunt reactor, Hybrid Gas Insulated Switchgear (HGIS), 500 kV and 230 kV switch bays and the control building. The 500 KV KanKaung Substation, currently under construction in Meikhtila Township, is 90% complete and is expected to be finished by December 2024. Efforts are underway to complete the project on schedule.
