







Union Minister for Education, Dr. Nyunt Pe, accompanied by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, Deputy Minister for Education U Nay Myo Hlaing, and officials, visited basic education schools in the Inlay region of Nyaungshwe Township on 28th April to inspect conditions and provide necessary guidance.
The Union Minister began by inspecting schools in the Inlay area that were damaged by the powerful Mandalay earthquake on March 28. He assessed the structural damage to school buildings and classrooms, as well as ongoing efforts to construct temporary classrooms ahead of the June school reopening.
During the inspection, the Union Minister instructed those efforts to repair, rebuild, and construct new school buildings in the affected areas be expedited. He emphasized that all stakeholders should collaborate to restore the schools to the conditions better than before the disaster.
Following the inspections, the Union Minister met warmly with educational personnel affected by the earthquake, offering words of encouragement and financial assistance, and ensured that additional resources required for the schools were provided.
The Union Minister then continued to No. (1) Basic Education Middle School (Shwe Nyaung) and Basic Education High School (Shwe Nyaung) in Taunggyi Township. At Shwe Nyaung High School, he met with teacher trainees from Shan State (South) attending the Diploma in Education and Pedagogy (Dip.EP) course. He offered encouragement and ensured that their needs were met, according to the reports.
