Inspection Tour In Lashio: Rehabilitation Camp, Youths Training School And Pre-School

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine together with officials visited Lashio Preschool on 22nd May and met with staffs from the Department of Disaster Management and Department of Rehabilitation in Lashio District.

At the meeting, the Union Minister clarified quick win project that is being undertaken by the Ministry. Later, the Deputy Minister gave a speech and the staffs reported their needs on which the Union Minister coordinated essentials. On 23rd May, the Union Minister, the Deputy Minister and officials attended ceremony to provide social pension to elders aged 85 years and above in Shan State (North) for 2022-2023 fiscal year and Youths Development Parahita School as well as present certificates of honour to volunteers who participated in COVID-19 prevention, control and response measures.

At the ceremony, the Union Minister provided over 168 million kyats of social pension for 5,604 elders who are 85 years old and above and 18.6 million kyats for 2 parahita schools and 1 home for the aged, totalling over 186.7 million kyats through officials. The Chairman of State Administrative  sub-body and presented certificates of honour to volunteers who took part in COIVD-19 prevention, control and containment measures.

 The Union Minister, the Deputy Minister and officials then provided cash assistance to elder persons. The Union Minister and party then proceeded to the rehabilitation camp (Lashio) where town elders and officials reported measures for the achievement of rehabilitation trainings and creating jobs for the trainees. The Union Minister and party viewed around arrangements for conducting vocational trainings and beautifying of the camp and fulfilled the needs. On arrival at the warehouse of the Department of Disaster Management in Lashio District, the Union Minister and party inspected storage of relief aids, materials for regional development and donated items.
