






Member of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, and Union Minister for Transport and Communications, General Mya Tun Oo, visited Sule Jetty No.7 in the compound of Sule International Port Terminal on Saturday.
The visit aimed to observe the loading of over 18,000 tons of rice to be exported to Indonesia by MV. VTC Phoenix Vessel. He instructed for the timely completion of the tasks while ensuring worksite safety. The Deputy Prime Minister also observed the loading of rice and related products to be exported to Spain and Poland at Jetty Nos.2 and 5.
From April to January during the 2023-24 fiscal year, the Yangon Port handled over 1 million tons of rice, over 1.1 million of beans and pulses, and over 500,000 tons of maize to be exported to foreign countries including Europe, Africa, and Asia, earning foreign currency for the country.
During his tour, the Deputy Prime Minister inspected the renovation works of warehouses in the terminal compound. There are a total of 7 warehouses in Sule Jetty, with four warehouses built in 1912 and the three others in 1963.
At present, four of these warehouses are undergoing renovation, and once the renovation process is completed, these facilities can provide storage space for the exported goods and imported fertilizer. The renovation works are expected to be completed by March and May this year, respectively.
