Inspection Tour: Efforts for development of fisheries industry

On 18th March, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi inspected Taninthayi Region Fishing Vessle Monitoring System Sub-Control Center which is conducting marine environment preservation activities aiming to prevent fisheries scarcity, to preserve fishery resources and to eliminate illegal fishing.

During the inspection, the Deputy Minister heard reports on international fishing rules and regulations, Port State Measures Agreement (PSMA), monitoring fishing vessels from home and abroad and systematic fishing activities within Myanmar’s sea territorial. Upon reports, the Deputy Minister stressed on fishery resources preservation and effective actions to take against illegal fishing.

The Deputy Minister also met with the departmental officials and staff at the Myeik District Agriculture Department Head office and provided foodstuff and gifts.

In the evening, the Deputy Minister visited C.K Frozen Foods Yangon Co,, Ltd in East Dagon Township of Yangon Region and inspected the arrangements to export fish and prawns to Middle East countries and European countries. At Shwe Myanmar Investment and Commercial Co., Ltd, the Deputy Minister oversaw the production and refrigeration process of fishery products for export.

On 19th March, the Deputy Minister visited Myanmar Seafoods Limited in Insein Township, inspected the refrigeration process of the products and instructed on cleanliness of the factory and quality of the products, meeting international standards.

Subsequently, the Deputy Minister visited Multipurpose Agriculture and Livestock Breeding Zone on Yangon-Mandalay Highway, inspected advanced cattle breeding system and instructed on making preparations to prevent potential infectious diseases and nutrition of the farm animals and provided livestock medicines.
