





Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win together with regional ministers inspected upgrading of agriculture and livestock breeding tasks in Bago district on Thursday. First, the Chief Minister and party visited Nga Nyi Naung Advanced Livestock Farm in Bago to inspect breeding of DYL pigs, chicken layers and fish and called for extended cultivation of nivea grass, emphasis on Good Aquaculture Practices (GAqP) and education on self-producing of animal feed.
The Chief Minister and party then looked into durability of Bago river crossing bridge at the entrance of Kawa and stressed on re-digging of water channels to recede water as quick as possible at the inundated farmlands along the river, nurturing high quality paddy strains to replace in the damaged monsoon paddy by floods and preparations for cultivation.
At the Kawa Township General Administrative Office, the Chief Minister met township agricultural supervisory groups and locals and provided the needs on the reports of officials. The Chief Minister and party then looked into the confluence of We Patan and Thandin creek and called for re-digging the bank to minimize floods and arrangements for irrigation.
They then looked into inundated monsoon paddy fields in Zar Bar village in Kawatownship and gave necessary instructions.A total of 184,365 acres of monsoon paddy were cultivated in Kawa township and 20,683 acres were flooded in August due to torrential rains. As of 17th August, 13,773 acres were receded water, 856 acres affected and 560 acres damaged. And 6,910 acres remain flooded.
