Inspection of Road Upgrading: MoC UM inspected Union Highway upgrading works

Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant accompanied by the Deputy Minister U Win Pe and officials inspected upgrading works of Na Win Creek Bridge (190 feet long) being constructed by Bridge Special Unit (6) at milepost (245/7) on Yangon-Mandalay Union Highway on 6th of June and heard the clarification by the engineer in-charge on the completion of construction works, ongoing tasks and action plans with the map and charts.

On the clarification, the Union Minister instructed for the works of bridge colums, and to focus on the completion of retaining walls of the Up Stream and Down Stream of the bridge within a set time, to meet the quality standards and to address the working site safety due to the heavy traffic.

Na Win Creek Bridge under construction is being upgraded from 2 lanes to four lanes bridge and the construction works were started on the 1st of April. After completion of the bridge, the traffic congestion will be enabled to reduce at the place of bridge on the Union highway.

Next, the Union minister inspected extension of road embankment from 4 lanes to 6 lanes of the Union Highway in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, status of thriving trees planted previous years at the both sides of road, ground filling works at the water logged areas, substituted plantation of trees at the places where the trees planted previously could not grow and the status of planting trees in the monsoon season at the sides of the road.

The Union Minister explained the master plan of the road extension and protection of the trees planted with the tree guards and gave necessary instruction to the officials.
