





Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Fifth National Sports Festival 2024, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan, and responsible officials inspected the preparedness and arrangements for the sports competitions at the festival, which will be held at the Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on 27th November.
First, the Union Minister inspected the preparations for the Sepak Takraw Court at Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex (A), setting up of background billboards and vinyl signs, completion of installing Regions and States flags, completion of tile flooring at Wunna Theikdi Stadium (B) and he instructed the responsible persons on necessary adjustments.
Furthermore, the Union Minister inspected the readiness of various sports facilities, including the weightlifting hall, boxing hall, billiards and snooker hall, tennis court, and the competition of venues for Karate Do and Taekwondo in sports training room (3) and related facilities.
He also reviewed the ongoing training session of Sepak Takraw athletes. After the inspection, the Union Minister urged the relevant sectors to ensure that there are no deficiencies in any aspect of the preparations, and emphasized the importance of collaboration to ensure the successful and smooth execution of the National Sports Festival.
He instructed that any necessary actions be addressed promptly and on time. At the 2024 Fifth National Sports Festival, over 2,500 athletes will participate in 6 sports events at the ministerial level, over 6,600 athletes in 23 sports events at the Regions and States level and over 140 athletes in 4 sports for people with disabilities, bringing the total number of athletes to over 9,200.
